Climb For a Cause is excited to award the first Jeff Baumrucker Memorial Scholarship to Amy Governor! Amy, a third year dental student at West Virginia University will join SmileTree™ in Guatemala as a volunteer at an oral health education and treatment project.
“I am honored to be the first recipient of the Jeff Baumrucker Memorial Scholarship and excited for the opportunity to volunteer in Guatemala with Climb for a Cause! The respect and appreciation given to Dr. Baumrucker speaks to the legacy he created and inspires me to live fully and with compassion and charity to others,” says Governor.
“We received applications from many qualified candidates – awarding this scholarship was a tough decision.” Says executive director Daniel Bobrow, “Ultimately, we decided that Amy’s love of the outdoors, desire to give back and animated personality would make her the perfect recipient for this opportunity” Finished Bobrow.
Beginning in 2013 this scholarship is awarded to a deserving third or fourth year dental student, allowing them the opportunity to gain real world dental experience during a SmileTree™/Climb For A Cause™ sponsored oral health education and treatment project.
The Jeff Baumrucker Memorial Scholarship honors the memory of a loving father, devoted husband and generous dentist. Dr. Baumrucker was dedicated to helping people achieve their best smile possible – many patients loved coming to visit his practice. His adventurous and giving spirit led him to support the efforts of Climb For a Cause and through that support many young children received desperately needed dental care. Jeff Baumrucker was a friend to many and an inspiration to all – those who knew him will miss him always.
