Tallahassee, FL: Over the past year, the National Board for Certification in Dental Laboratory Technology has approved more continuing education speakers and courses than ever before. “Since June of 2003, NBC has approved over 2,800 new courses and 500 new speakers resulting in 39,047 credit entries into the Certified Dental Technology education database”, said Cassandra Turner, Continuing Education Coordinator for NBC.
Certified Dental Technicians must have at least 12 hours of continuing education prior to renewing their designation every year. The renewal requirements are comprised of a mandatory one-hour infectious disease control credit, along with six hours of scientific credit and five hours of non-scientific or professional development credit. Certified Dental Technicians maintain continuing education in laboratory practice, professional education, and infection control.

The National Board for Certification in Dental Laboratory Technology (NBC) was formed in 1955 as an independent certification organization dedicated to improving the quality of dental laboratory technology through voluntary testing and certification of dental laboratory technicians. More than 6,000 professionals hold these credentials in one or more areas of specialty.
