Better Way to Restore

A Better Way to Restore Teeth
Posted: July 7, 2004
I am looking for a distributor. A unique product that fills a much needed niche in restorative dentistry. I find I can not be both a dentist and a dental supplier.

Use of the Contour Wedge is a different and superior way to restore Class III and Class IV composites. The dentist can do things with the Contour Wedge that is not possible with a standard wedge and mylar strip. The Contour Wedge is its’ own matrix. No mylar strip is necessary. The restoration is built directly against the Contour Wedge and the adjacent tooth.

The dentist has:

-- Control of the contact position.

-- The ability to produce a rounded emergence contour because it is built into the Contour Wedge. (Mylar strips and standard wedges tend to straight line the emergence contours at the gingiva.)

-- The ability to establish a tight contact. There is nothing to get in the way. There is no matrix.

-- Access and visibility to the operative field. Not working around an awkward mylar strip.

(See Today’s Active Cases “ Class IV composite on Overlapped Teeth” dated 01/11/2004)

(See Today’s Active Cases ” Reducing black triangle disease” dated 06/04/2004)

Other Uses for the Contour Wedge:

-- Restoring Class II’s Class II’s on bicuspids when the contact to be restored is wide open and the composite needs to travel 1 mm to close the gap.

-- Closing Diastemas with composite When closing diastemas with composite the dentist can bond to subgingival enamel. You will be surprised at the beautiful results you can achieve. (See Today’s Active Cases entitled “Closing Diastemas with composite” dated 06/06/2004)

-- Cementation of Veneers and Onlays.

The Contour Wedge will accomplish isolation by compressing bleeding gums. The wedges can remain in place during cementation, and will not interfere with the full seat of the veneer or onlay.

(See Today’s Active Cases “Isolation for Veneer Cementation” dated 06/11/2004.)

-- Splinting teeth.

The Contour Wedge will shape the interproximal composite during the splinting procedure. The embrasures will be properly contoured and highly polished. Quality and speed will result.

-- Class V Composites.

The Contour Wedge can be used to remove the papilla from the margins of a Class V prep.
