Sacramento, Calif. – The December issue of the CDA Journal explores an array of topics. One article, titled “Lipid Characterization of Human Saliva,” discusses the importance of saliva as a diagnostic and/or prognostic medium for various diseases and presents several key advantages of saliva use for disease diagnosis.
“Salivary lipids have not been widely studied,” said Kerry Carney, DDS, editor-in-chief of the Journal. “The December issue takes a closer look at the lipid characterization of human saliva.”
This issue also explores the potential for saliva to be used as a blood substitute for the analysis of nutritional biomarkers in the diagnosis and prognosis of diseases related to lipid consumption and metabolism.
One article outlines a simple technique for increasing the occlusal vertical dimension of removable denture wearers while another explores the correlation between the stages of calcification of teeth and the cervical vertebral maturity stages.
The December Journal also includes a case report presenting a unique case of fusion between supernumerary canine and maxillary first premolar, the associated problems and their comprehensive clinical management.
The Journal of the California Dental Association is an award-winning monthly peer-reviewed scientific publication that informs dentists about scientific advances, matters of general interest and new products.
