J. Morita Announces 3D Accuitomo 170 & i-Dixel 2.0 Software

IRVINE, Calif. – (February 10, 2011) – J. Morita, world leader in imaging technology, has announced a new cone beam (or 3D) X-ray unit. Highly refined, the 3D Accuitomo 170 is the 4th generation of the Accuitomo product line. Recent updates in image acquisition have further enhanced clarity of image, yet this unit also offers a dramatic reduction in dosage. The i-Dixel 2.0 3D imaging software release includes a range of feature enhancements and improvements including an intuitive, new user interface.

The new Dose Reduction Feature decreases patient exposure 30% to 40% compared to the previous Accuitomo model. Now, even the largest field of view (FOV) of the entire head and neck area is 25% less dosage than an FMX, F-speed film.* Nine FOV options allow practitioners to keep dosage to a minimum by closely matching the region of interest. Small FOV images, starting at just 40 x 40 mm, can be applied in endodontics including the diagnosis of fractures. Larger options, up to 170 x 120 mm, cover the entire head and neck area which enable a comprehensive examination for surgery or treatment planning for implants.

This unit’s industry leading clarity can be attributed to several features including the most advanced 3D sensors in the world, a voxel size of just 80 micrometers, 14 bit grayscale capability, and resolution greater than two line pairs per millimeter. It also offers a secure patient stabilization method for both the head and chin to help prevent patient movement during acquisition.

Zoom reconstruction is another feature unique to 3D Accuitomo. It always acquires data at 80 micrometers, the highest level of resolution. The user is able to choose a lower resolution for display, however, for large fields of view to reduce reconstruction time and file size. If a small region of interest is identified in the original scan, and more detail is needed in that area, Zoom Reconstruction will produce an 80 micrometer image of that small region without retaking the image. No other unit offers this feature.

i-Dixel 2.0, 3D imaging software, comes standard with all Morita 3D units including the Accuitomo and Veraviewepocs product lines. It is compatible with Microsoft Windows® 7 and can be seamlessly integrated into a network environment. An improved user interface makes i-Dixel 2.0 easier to use and navigate. Updated filters between i-Dixel and One Volume Viewer (viewing software) offer uniform image quality and resolution. Several new features have also been added for advanced image manipulation including real time re-slice in the highest resolution, implant planning, and a nerve canal tracing function. i-Dixel 2.0 is also fully integrated with TDO Practice Management Software – the most comprehensive and widely used endodontic software in the world. TDO users can seamlessly incorporate any Morita 3D unit into their practice with full compatibility.

More details about 3D Accuitomo 170, i-Dixel 2.0 software, and the basics of cone beam imaging, will be presented at the upcoming Chicago Dental Society Midwinter Meeting, February 24 – 26, 2011. Morita will be hosting presentations by a radiologist daily at 12:00 pm, 2:00 pm, and 3:30 pm at Booth #3006.
