Uniting the Industry to Help Reduce Costs and Increase EDI
The National Dental EDI Council is pleased to announce the Uniting the Industry Forum will take over and expand a program that was started nearly a year ago by DentalXChange. The program, which was already meeting with success, was initiated during a meeting to bridge the gap between providers and payers.
The program focuses on identification and implementation areas where changes may be made to create an
understanding and deliver instant ROI to the industry.
Recognizing the need to include all industry stakeholders and to broaden the participation and adoption
of the principles of the project, Scott Wellwood, President and COO of DentalXChange and NDEDIC chairelect advised that “NDEDIC is the natural forum to facilitate further discussions and increase industry
involvement, we could not be more pleased with the success we’ve been able to make in less than a year and
believe that the full involvement of the NDEDIC membership will accelerate the process.” The NDEDIC Board of Trustees agreed and has launched the new Uniting the Industry Forum.
NDEDIC’s Forum, Uniting the Industry, is offering all industry stakeholders the opportunity to develop
a comprehensive understanding of the challenges, issues, and restrictions we are facing in the development of
electronic transactions. By working together to develop realistic solutions, the Uniting the Industry Forum will
identify areas of change which are capable within system restrictions, as well as transaction code sets, which
will deliver an immediate reduction in costs, increase EDI and deliver significant cost savings across payers and providers.
NDEDIC Chair Kathleen Noll, vice president, technical marketing and implementations, Quality Systems, Incorporated commented: “Throughout its twenty year history, NDEDIC has been dedicated solely to the advancement of dental electronic data interchange (EDI). It is the optimal forum for the expansion of this very important initiative; the promotion of the adoption, growth and standardization of dental EDI transactions to improve patient care and reduce costs industry-wide. Our membership, which includes representatives from dental insurance payers, dentists and dental group practices, EDI clearinghouses, software vendors and others, has been consistently dedicated to the development and adoption of dental EDI transactions. As a result, NDEDIC is uniquely positioned to advance this important initiative.”
Participation in this Forum is currently open to all industry professionals without membership
requirement.
