PULPDENT PIONEERS NEW PROVISIONAL CHEMISTRY
WATERTOWN, MA: May 3, 2010— Pulpdent Corporation has introduced Rubberized-Urethane™, a new category of provisional materials. The breakthrough is the first advance in provisional chemistry in 18 years.
During the past two decades, many practitioners have favored bis-acrylic provisional materials from Germany over traditional powder and liquid acrylic. Now, Pulpdent has introduced a new provisional chemistry. By inserting a synthetic rubber molecule into a diurethane dimethacrylate molecule, Pulpdent has developed Tuff-Temp™, a proprietary rubberized-urethane provisional material with clear advantages over the older technologies.
Bis-acrylics have the convenience of automix systems, but they are brittle, and they shrink and stretch. They also break, come loose, and require frequent re-makes and re-cementations. The heat generated by grinding gums up and distorts the margins and clogs finishing instruments.
Powder and liquid acrylics are strong, grind and powder for accurate margins, and are low in price. However, they shrink and stretch, are highly allergenic, have an objectionable odor, generate considerable heat, fit poorly, come loose, and require frequent re-cementation.
Tuff-Temp’s rubberized-urethane chemistry, available in automix cartridges and syringes, is tough, impact resistant, and dimensionally stable, gripping the teeth and greatly reducing or eliminating chipping, breaking, debondings, and recementations. Suitable for both single units and longer spans, Tuff-Temp grinds and powders, providing crisp and accurate margins. The heat of the grinding and finishing instruments does not soften or distort the rubberized-urethane.
Tuff-Temp is dual-cure. The fast light cure option produces a full-strength restoration on demand and is ideal for use with a clear vinyl polysiloxane template.
Tuff-Temp Glaze and Add-on are also available for enhanced esthetics, alterations, and smile design, and they are made from the same rubberized-urethane chemistry.
