Carestream Health Inc. Awards Darkroom Makeover to Drawing Winner
The company continues its commitment to providing quality images to dental professionals
ROCHESTER, NY, Feb. 23, 2010 — Carestream Health Inc., the exclusive manufacturer of KODAK Dental Systems, including KODAK Dental Films and Chemistry, just completed a darkroom makeover at Dr. Paul S. Freeman’s office in Jersey City, New Jersey. Processing an average of 60 to 100 films per day, Dr. Freeman’s office was the winner of a “Darkroom Update” contest held at the Greater New York Dental Meeting in November 2009.
As part of its winnings, the office received an onsite visit from Chris Warren, Technical Support Engineer and Imaging Consultant for Carestream Health, and was awarded a variety of dental film and processing supplies, including ten boxes of KODAK INSIGHT Dental Film, several bottles of KODAK Chemistry, and a KODAK LED Safelight. The total prize was valued at nearly $3,000.
Dr. Freeman’s darkroom and processing condition, office’s x-ray units and overall radiograph quality were evaluated during the onsite visit. The evaluation uncovered that Dr. Freeman’s darkroom was leaking white light, which was creating an obvious fog on the films. The office’s radiographs also exhibited slightly lower-than-normal density, contrast, and image tone due to overuse and under-replenishing chemistry. To correct these conditions, Chris Warren thoroughly cleaned the processor, converted the chemistry to KODAK Chemistry products, and demonstrated the advantages of using KODAK Chemistry to process KODAK Films.
Chris also reviewed how to improve the image quality of the office’s KODAK ULTRA-SPEED Dental Films by adjusting kVp and exposure levels, using KODAK Chemistry, and performing regular maintenance on the processor.
