New Kit From KOMET USA Designed For Trimming Bis-acryl Provisional Materials

Rock Hill, S.C. – Feb. 18, 2010 – KOMET USA has introduced a new kit designed specifically for the trimming and shaping of bis-acryl provisional material according to the special technique developed by Thomas R. McDonald, DMD.

The Thomas R. McDonald, DMD Provisional System Kit LD0321 contains four tungsten carbide burs and one honeycomb spiral reinforced diamond disc. Designed in conjunction with Dr. McDonald of Athens, GA, the kit is for single- or multi-tooth contouring, and the shape/fluting designs of the burs were selected for their precision and efficiency.

The H79GE.HP.070 is a large coarse cutter designed for working with acrylics and plaster. For single-tooth restorations, with this one bur, the operator can trim the entire margin with ease. The H1.HP.023 round bur is used to accentuate occlusal anatomy and to relieve internal surfaces. With these instruments, Dr. McDonald’s step-wise technique can allow clinicians to trim a single-tooth restoration in less than one minute. The H251ACR.HP.060 instrument’s toothing is an intermediate version between the super coarse and coarse-staggered toothing. This bur allows for precise margin shaping, pontic contouring and proximal embrasure development in multiple-unit restorations. The H79EF.HP.040 bur (fine KOMET S-Cutter™) is well suited for incisal edge definition and facial anatomical contouring. Finally, the 6924.HP.180 honeycomb diamond disc allows for exquisite trimming of the proximal embrasures and margins in the esthetic zone. It has a longer service life because of its flexibility and diamond coating design.
