DEXIS 6 Released

DEXIS Emphasizes Connectivity With Digital Radiography Software Release 6.0
Posted: February 4, 2004
DEXIS™, an industry leader in digital radiography, has announced the release of DEXIS 6, the latest version of its digital x-ray software.

With contemporary dentistry rapidly moving toward computerization, DEXIS™ release 6.0 is designed to be the digital image management hub of the modern dental practice. From image capture and manipulation to storage, retrieval, and communication, release 6.0 enables dentists to interact with other dental practice software and to communicate images to other practices and insurance companies more easily than ever before.

In the words of DEXIS™ CEO Nicholas Willson, "DEXIS is not trying to be all things to all users. We're giving dentists the opportunity to use the best digital radiography system in conjunction with any other software they currently have installed. We're not asking them to compromise their digital x-ray capability by purchasing a system that's merely an add-on, bundled with a practice management package."

With software release 6.0, DEXIS™ maintains its philosophy of providing the best quality, easiest to use digital radiography systems available. Release 6.0 has several new features, including the capability to draw freehand on an x-ray image. This means that problem areas can be circled or otherwise annotated for the purposes of patient education and communication with other offices.

Release 6.0 also includes full-screen multi-level magnification and several administrative upgrades. Among these are a light that automatically indicates whether a patient has images archived, eliminating the need to search through files.

"I like the fact that DEXIS is emphasizing giving its clients a choice," says DEXIS user Dr. Jeffrey Dalin. "In the past, dentists have often been penalized by having to compromise their digital radiography needs because they're lured into buying a system that's bundled with, for instance, a practice management program. The new DEXIS software is so flexible it can work seamlessly with any system on the market."

Release 6.0 also includes two new DEXIS modules, DEXimplant™ and DEXbone™, the first programs to enable dentists to digitally design and monitor dental implants.

DEXIS, long an industry innovator, was the first to introduce digital radiography systems featuring laptop computers. The company also pioneered the PerfectSize™ rounded-edge sensor, an innovation which enhanced patient comfort by eliminating the sharp edges typical of film and other digital sensors.

And in 2001, DEXIS was the first company to have its digital radiography system receive the American Dental Association "seal of approval" when it was admitted into the prestigious ADA Acceptance Program.
