BRUSH UP! ADHA/SUNSTAR VIDEO CONTEST SPREADS MESSAGE OF PROPER BRUSHING
Winners Announced, Videos Posted on YouTube Channel
CHICAGO – November 16, 2009 – Recently the American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) and Sunstar Americas announced the winners of the first-ever Brush Up! Contest.
The contest challenged the creative skills of ADHA student members to develop a video to educate kindergarten-aged children about proper brushing. The videos, ranging in length from 2 minutes to 2 minutes and 30 seconds and could feature songs and puppets. Sunstar provided GUM® Crayola™ Timer Light toothbrushes to be used in the videos.
The GUM® Crayola™ Timer Light toothbrush flashes for 60 seconds to help teach kids to brush for the minimum recommended time, ensuring better oral health. The product appeals to boys and girls and comes in four gender-neutral colors.
From the14 videos created three winners were selected based on 9,850 votes from the dental hygiene community. The winning videos have been posted on YouTube (www.youtube.com/user/ADHAdotOrg <http://www.youtube.com/user/ADHAdotOrg), and include the following:
Derek Sanders – The first place prize winner of $1,000, Sanders is a student at Western Kentucky University.
Kate Steininger – The second place prize winner of $500, Steininger is a student at Baylor University.
Kassidi Morrison – The third place prize winner of a Sunstar/ADHA product gift bag, Morrison is a student at Hudson Valley Community College.
