AGD's annual meeting in Anaheim, CA offers education, camaraderie in a family atmosphere

Working to advance the education of the dental professional, the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) will launch their four-day Annual Meeting on July 8, 2004 in Anaheim, Calif., which will offer attendees an opportunity to earn a year's worth of continuing dental education (CDE) while networking with 2,500 peers dedicated to excellent patient care through lifelong learning.

"The AGD's 52nd Annual Meeting is the most important gathering of general dentists," according to John D. Chandler, DDS, MAGD, AGD president.

More than 60 renowned clinicians, including Gordon Christensen, John Svirsky and Gerard Chiche will present the latest developments in oral health and technology. Attendees can take advantage of innovative continuing education, including 31 participation courses, which begin on July 7th; a three-day participation course sponsored by the Pankey Institute; two-day extended participation courses; 29 lectures and 21 capsule clinics. Attendees can visit more than 250 exhibit booths, which will feature the biggest and best dental industry companies.

"We work to arm general dentists with up-to-date knowledge about the latest dental procedures and equipment, which helps them to offer their patients expanded treatment options, improved results and a chance to attract new patients with their dedication to excellence," says Dr. Chandler.

For a pre-registration fee of $350, meeting attendees can expect to attend the following, free-of-charge:
-All lectures scheduled Thursday through Sunday
-All capsule clinics scheduled Thursday through Saturday

-Entrance to the exhibit hall, featuring over 250 exhibit booths
-Coffee breaks
-Exhibit hall luncheons on Friday, July 9 and Saturday, July 10

The AGD Foundation, dedicated to improving the oral health of the public and supporting the efforts of the general dentist through financial support of scientific, educational and charitable initiatives, will sponsor a golf outing open to golfers on Wednesday, July 7, at the Tustin Ranch Golf Club, the official golf course of Anaheim 's Arrowhead Pond and a past 4-Star recipient of Golf Digest Magazine's "Places To Play ". The cost of $250 per golfer includes green fees, cart rental, continental breakfast, lunch, use of the Tustin Ranch locker room facilities and round-trip transportation. Pre-registration for the annual meeting will end on June 5, 2004. After that date, a higher on-site registration fee will be applied.

The American Dental Assistants Association's (ADAA) and the American Association of Women Dentists (AAWD) will conduct meetings in conjunction with the AGD 2004 Annual Meeting.

Lifelong Commitment to Learning The AGD is a non-profit organization of more than 37,000 general dentists dedicated to staying up-to-date in the profession through continuing education. A general dentist is the primary care provider for patients of all ages and is responsible for the diagnosis, treatment, management and overall coordination of services related to patients' oral health needs.
