Advanced Automation Research Reveals Dentists Save $91K Annually With Digital Office Technology

Atlanta, GA, April 7, 2009 – Advanced Automation, a leader in comprehensive dental IT solutions and support, reports today that dentists can save an average of $91,000 annually by switching to digital dental office technologies. This average is the result of a study that calculated savings across 2,100 dentists in Georgia, Alabama, Florida and Louisiana who rely on Advanced Automation for technical support.

Dentists that switch to digital dental processes increase staff efficiency and resource usage. For example, they eventually eliminate the need for relatively expensive paper charts. Says Rochelle Reynolds, RDH and Project Manager at Advanced Automation, “As dental practices continue moving towards digital solutions, they become increasingly profitable. Dentists use digital technology to reduce labor and asset costs while improving cash flow through digital signatures, x-rays and e-claims. The result is a more profitable practice with no compromise in patient care.”

Advanced Automation calculates the $91,000 annual savings figure by looking at products and services required to maintain over 25 manual processes then comparing them to their digital counterparts. By changing to digital x-rays, for example, a three-doctor practice would save just over $80,000 per year. Single-doctor practices in the same situation save about $27,000 a year.

“68 per cent of our clients are at least partially digital,” says John Moore, President and Founder of Advanced Automation. “This study helped us discover just how much more profitable the average digital practice is relative to those who are more traditional and manual.”

The study also indicated that dentists who delay the move to a digital office most often cite the troubled economy. “That’s a false impression,” states Moore. “With technology prices at five year lows, and EHR (Electronic Health Record) mandated by 2014, there has never been a better time to move to a more digital dental practice.”
