Dr. Elba Garcia Addresses 115+ Attendees

DALLAS, Texas – Oct. 20, 2008 – More than 115 guests, including Hispanic leaders such as Dr. Elba Garcia, attended the launch of The North Texas Hispanic Dental Association at the W Hotel on September 12, 2008.  The organization is part of the Hispanic Dental Association, which has six Professional Chapters and thirty-plus Student Chapters across the United States.

Dr. Elba Garcia, Mayor Pro Tem for the City of Dallas, was the keynote speaker. As a Dallas-based dentist, Dr. Garcia energized the crowd with her personal insight and vast experience as a community leader and entrepreneur. She emphasized the growing high school drop-out rates among Hispanic teens and the need for dental education and mentoring.

According to Dr. Erick Menegazzo, President of The North Texas Hispanic Dental Association, “Dentists in the North Texas area who cater to the fast-growing Hispanic population can now come together to make an even bigger impact on their communities.  And, based on the attendance at our launch event, it’s evident we’ve attracted a very dynamic group of professionals with common interests and goals.”

The North Texas Hispanic Dental Association’s objectives include:
      *  Providing a voice for Hispanic oral professionals in North Texas
      *  Promoting the oral health of the Hispanic community through improved prevention, treatment and education
      *  Providing a worldwide source of continuing education for oral health professionals serving
the Hispanic community
      *  Promoting networking between Hispanic dentists and other associations

The North Texas Hispanic Dental Association is also dedicated to making a difference by contributing to organizations like HELPS International, Give Kids A Smile and Texas Mission of Mercy.  All of these organizations support low-income families and children.

The lead event sponsor was Northwestern Mutual Financial Network.  Other key sponsors included Henry Schein, Guaranty Bank, TNT Dental and Tulsa Dental.
