1-year gIDE Asia Master Program features supervised implant patient treatment
gIDE, Global Institute for Dental Education, introduced supervised patient treatment this week in Asia within the context of a 1-year,part-time Master program in implant dentistry.
The faculty of gIDE and Mahidol University, under course director Dr. Sascha Jovanovic, concluded the first ever module whereby 24 dentists placed dental implants under supervision in a formal continuing education program in Bangkok, Thailand. The course participants are part of a 1-year part-time implant education program in South East Asia organized by gIDE in collaboration with Mahidol University and UCLA School of Dentistry.
This clinical module with supervised live patient treatment is the result of gIDE's comprehensive program to train and educate general dentists, providing them advanced knowledge to place and restore dental implants. In order to guarantee a successful implementation of implant therapy in their practice, a clinical module representing real patient experience is essential. Therefore, this unique supervision moduleis is now part of the curriculum, and has been added to the 4-session, 1-year Master program. The result is a unique gIDE program in the world of dental education, providing both evidence based training coupled with a strong academic base.
gIDE, with course director Dr. Jovanovic and faculty, have developed this comprehensive 1-year education program in implant dentistry which includes 14 days of face-to-face sessions, 8 days of highly regarded e-Learning programs, 6 exam assessments and 2 case presentations. This program was originally implemented in 2006, and has currently graduated 93 dentists from Hong Kong, Indonesia, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand. In 2007, new graduates are expected from both European and Middle Eastern countries.
"I am pleased to implement this new form of education for Asian GPs to prepare them for a practice where dental implants are at the core of the therapies they provide to their patients and provide the doctors all necessary training to be well equipped for the future", Dr Jovanovic comments.
gIDE was founded in 2003 and is a private dental online learning Institute and the leading provider of personal, mobile training in the flexible learning space worldwide.
