Problem
Adjusting proximal contacts before final cementation of indirect restorations requires the use of articulating films to get colored marks of the heavy proximal contact points and small crowns and onlay/inlays must be taken in and out of the patient’s mouth to adjust them with rotary instruments.  Incremental adjustments of indirect restorations can be tedious and time consuming for both dentists and patients. Access to tight anterior and posterior spaces is limited and patients often experienced  discomfort immediately after final cementation due to excessive pressure between the indirect restoration and the adjacent teeth.
Solution
Use of ContacEZ Diamond Dental Strip offers an alternate technique for proximal contact adjustment of indirect restorations.  In proximal contact adjustment, it is important that dentists restore microscopic clearance or passive contact between the proximal contact surfaces of the indirect restoration and the adjacent teeth. If the proximal contact is too tight, patients may experience discomfort due to excessive pressure between the teeth.   When accurate proximal contact is achieved by properly deflecting contours and the occlusal anatomy of the teeth, interproximal   pressure is relieved, hereafter referred to as “interproximal relief.”  ContacEZ Diamond Dental Strip is designed to use prior to final cementation to achieve proper proximal contact adjustment of indirect restorations restoring interproximal relief by eliminating excessive pressure between the indirect restoration and the adjacent teeth.
Results
Use of ContacEZ Diamond Dental Strip eliminates the need to use articulating films, colored pencils and rotary instruments for adjustment of indirect restorations. Single-handed design offers better tactile control and grants easy access to tight anterior or posterior spaces. Small crowns and inlays no longer need to be taken in and out of patients’ mouths, chair time is reduced and patient comfort is enhanced immediately after final cementation of an indirect restoration.

Summary
Adjusting proximal contacts of indirect restorations prior to final cementation using ContacEZ Diamond Dental Strip reduces chair time and enhances patient comfort.  A clinician can now adjust proximal contacts intraorally simply and easily!
