The Scottsdale Center for Dentistry celebrates the launch of its first two Advanced CEREC® courses. CEREC Proficiency: Advanced Concepts in Posterior CAD/CAM Dentistry and CEREC Proficiency: Advanced Concepts in Anterior CAD/CAM Dentistry were simultaneously presented by certified CEREC instructors Sameer Puri,DDS and Armen Mirzayen,DDS.

Thirty attendees were among the first to utilize the Centers 36 lab benches and ten-operatory training room.  Students participated in two days of in-depth hands-on training and lectures for developing mastery in posterior and anterior CEREC restoration.

“It was a great success,” says Dr. Puri. “In order to offer increased breadth to the learning experience, Dr. Mirzayen and I taught portions of each course.  This way attendees were given the benefit of both our perspectives on CAD/CAM restoration.”

The Scottsdale Center for Dentistry, developed by CEO Imtiaz Manji and Dean Gordon J. Christensen, DDS, MSD, PhD, was designed to optimize the learning experience with top-tier faculty and the very latest in dental equipment and audio-visual technology.  Utilizing the Center’s state-of-the-art facilities, Dr. Puri and Dr. Mirzayen were able to seamlessly rotate the separate groups of participants between presentations in the multimedia lecture theatre and hands-on exercises in the clinical lab.

“The feedback from participants was tremendous,” says Dr. Mirzayan. “One doctor said he learned more about using CEREC in the first 90 minutes of the course than in the four years he has owned CEREC. He and his assistant were so pleased that they were giving each other hugs and high fives during the break.”

Participants gained insight as to the full potential of their CEREC systems through numerous hands-on exercises. The posterior group learned 4 different ways to do quadrants, effectively enabling participants to deliver a more efficient and higher quality restoration.   The anterior group performed multiple-unit anterior cases and learned how, through proper preparation, staining, glazing and use of layered porcelain, to achieve an equal aesthetic result as with using a lab.

“Overall, the Center was amazing,” says Dr. Puri. “We pretty much went from 8 o’clock to 5 o’clock both days and the amount of learning and energy was incredible for everyone involved.”

The Scottsdale Center for Dentistry marked its grand opening in May 2007 with the goal of becoming the leading post graduate education center for dentists and their teams by providing pragmatic, evidence-based, patient-centered knowledge delivered with truth and integrity. It is led by world-renowned faculty dedicated to providing the latest in programs, seminars and hands-on training for dentists from all disciplines.
