HyperFIL

DUAL-CURE POSTERIOR RESTORATIVE
Posted: June 28, 2007
HyperFIL release (WinCE).jpgParkell Inc recently introduced HyperFIL, a heavily-filled dual-cure composite for fast, economical placement of posterior restorations.
Though designed primarily for use with the company’s Brush&Bond self-etch bonding agent, HyperFIL  can reportedly be bonded with any bonding agent compatible with self- or dual-cure resins.
HyperFIL costs as little as $2 per gram (as opposed to $17/g for traditional posterior resins), but according to Parkell, the real saving is the reduction of chairtime required for a restoration.
HyperFIL reportedly eliminates the need for flowable liners or incremental build-up.  The dentist simply expresses composite from the cartridge directly into the preparation.  As it first comes out of the mixing tip, it flows slightly to conform to the prepared surface.   Then it stacks to fill the restoration.  After completing the fill, the surface is light-cured for 30 seconds. Shaping and polishing can begin immediately.
The nanofilled composite contains approximately 80% inorganic filler for wear-resistance. It reportedly expresses easily and polishes nicely.  According to Parkell, HyperFIL is intended primarily for Class I restorations and endo-access preparations, since its flowability prevents pushing the material to close a contact.
HyperFIL comes in a universal shade (a translucent A2/B2) in 25ml cartridges ($99) or 10ml cartridges ($49.98).
