Breath Odor Conference Scheduled for Chicago in August

The International Society for Breath Odor Research (ISBOR) will hold its seventh international conference in Chicago Wednesday, Aug. 22, through Friday, Aug. 24 at the Chicago Marriott Downtown Hotel in Chicago, IL, USA.

 

“The conference will feature prominent speakers and presentations on the latest advances and emerging technologies in basic, clinical, and translational research in oral health care,” said Dr. Christine Wu, Professor and Associate Dean for Research at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry, organizer of the conference.

 

The international conference is co-chaired by Dr. Daniel van Steenberghe, Professor, Faculty of Medicine, CatholicUniversity, Leuven, Belgium. Drs. Don Brunette of the University of British Columbia, Canada, and Walter J. Loesche of the University of Michigan, are organizing the scientific program.

 

“The ISBOR Conference provides an educational environment to present cutting-edge science and technology to the health care community and helps to build multidisciplinary, cross-specialty, and international collaboration in product development and design,” noted Dr. Mel Rosenberg, President of ISBOR, Tel Aviv University, Israel. “The event also aims to expand and further develop the research community’s understanding of the consumer.”

Featured addresses are:

 “Organoleptic and analytical assessment of breath odor,” by Dr. James Walker, Sensory Research Institute, FloridaStateUniversity.

“Sampling, analyzing, and prioritization of breath odor,” by Dr. Jacek Koziel, Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, Iowa State University.”

“Interaction between breath odor and taste disorders,” by Dr. Alan Hirsch, Smell & Taste Treatment and Research Foundation, Chicago.

“Clinical treatment strategies for breath odor of oral origin,” by Dr. Malcolm Williams, Colgate-Palmolive.

“Safety & efficacy evaluation of OTC oral hygiene products,” Dr. Wayne T. Wozniak, American Dental Association.

There also will be table clinics by Dr. Ken Yaegaki of NipponDentalUniversity in Japan and Dr. Sushma Nachnani of UHRG Inc.

 

Abstracts may only be submitted on line by Friday, June 15. See www.ISBOR.org for details and to register for the conference. Registration is $300. Rooms are available at the Marriott at a reduced rate of $183 for up to four occupancies.
