AMERICAN ACADEMY OF IMPLANT DENTISTRY ANNUAL SCIENTIFIC MEETING, OCT. 25-29, CHICAGO
You are invited to cover proceedings of the 55th Annual Scientific Meeting of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, the oldest professional society dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of implant dentistry through research and education. Some 1000 implant dental professionals are expected to attend. For complete schedules of main podium presentations, limited attendance programs and poster sessions, visit www.aaid.org.
Highlights include:
Meeting 90210 Zip Code Patient Expectations
Sixty-seven percent of Americans are missing at least one tooth, and, according to the Wall Street Journal, many are choosing to undergo implant procedures to restore both oral function and cosmetic appeal. Patient expectations, however, often can be extremely high from television programs, fashion magazines and advertisements for teeth whitening products and services. While implant dentists seek to satisfy both functional and esthetic demand, success often is determined by how much bone and soft tissue have been lost. In many cases, state-of-the art bone replacement techniques make successful implants possible, even if the patient has experienced significant bone loss. This makes implants a viable and preferred option to root canal and bridgework. Prominent AAID experts will be available to explain and demonstrate how advanced bone and tissue replacement methods are yielding outstanding results, even in the toughest cases.
3-D Guided Implant Surgery
Implant dentists today rely on sophisticated, almost life-like, digital imaging and minimally invasive, computer-guided surgical methods to enhance the precision and predictability of implant procedures. These technologies generate the most anatomically accurate images of the mouth, face and jaw for building computer models. High-tech mapping, in the hands of skilled AAID implant dentists, significantly reduces time required for implant surgery and lowers risks for implant rejection or other complications. At the AAID meeting, leading implant surgeons will explain and demonstrate how ultra- precise digital imaging and computer models are making implant surgery more convenient and successful.
