AACD Sets Record

"This is a significant accomplishment for our Academy, and great credit must be given to our dedicated volunteers and staff," said AACD President Mike Malone, DDS. "This reflects not only the growing interest in cosmetic dentistry by the public, but the growing recognition by dentists and ceramists that AACD is the leading organization in the world dedicated to cosmetic dentistry."

The AACD membership record comes at a time when many associations are reporting a decrease in membership due to the state of the economy and international tensions, making the accomplishment of the Academy all the more remarkable.

In addition, more than 2,000 cosmetic dental professionals attended this year’s AACD Scientific Session in Orlando. Attendees were introduced to cosmetic dentistry’s inaugural Communities of Practice, and innovative approach to dental continuing education, and took part in intensive hands-on workshops, lectures, and seminars. AACD members volunteered over 100 doctor-hours on the National Smile Hotline, while the 9th Annual Smile Gallery Competition awarded winners in several categories of fine smile design.

In 2003, the AACD enters its 20th year of dedication to the art and science of cosmetic dentistry. Next year’s commemorative 20th Anniversary Annual AACD Scientific Session takes place in Vancouver, BC from April 26th – May 2nd, 2004.
