Academy of General Dentistry Creates Public Affairs Division Teams join efforts to strengthen the voice of the general dentist
Posted: April 23, 2006
CHICAGO (April 19, 2006) - The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD)
recently combined its advocacy and public relations departments to
create a public affairs division. Following a recent trend in the
association community, the two departments merged to both improve and
streamline the AGD's communications efforts to all of its external
audiences.

"By monitoring and managing our business environment, we'll combine all
of our external outreach efforts to provide a competitive advantage to
the AGD and the 35,000 general dentists we serve and represent," says
Daniel Buksa, JD, the AGD's associate executive director of public
affairs and administration.

With the AGD's advocacy and public relations departments now working in
tandem, a more effective communications process will ensure that key
opinion leaders receive pertinent, timely and accurate information about
general dentistry. Both departments already work to be the eyes, ears
and voice of the general dentist and the combination of efforts will
result in more streamlined messages to external audiences.

"We will use our current successful programming efforts in legislative
and regulatory affairs, community relations, media relations and public
relations efforts as the foundation to build an even stronger reputation
for the AGD," says Buksa. "Our goal is to find common ground with our
messages with all the various stakeholders we work with."
