Dr. Cissy K. Furusho, a pediatric dentist who earned her DDS in 1996 and her MS in 2000 from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) College of Dentistry, was awarded the University of Illinois Alumni Loyalty Award at the College’s 2006 Reunion Feb. 24.
The award is given to an outstanding alum who has maintained extraordinary interest in and loyalty to the University by serving on University and alumni committees, councils, and boards and who is an active member of the U of I Alumni Association.
Dr. Furusho, a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatric Dentistry at the UIC College of Dentistry, has been on the College’s Dental Alumni Board of Directors for several years. She also was inaugurated as President of the Board at the Feb. 24 Reunion.
She is Co-Advisor to the UIC Student Chapter of the American Association of Women Dentists.
Dr. Furusho recently completed her term as President of the American Association of Women Dentists, one of the most prestigious and influential positions in organized dentistry in the United States. She is a Fellow in the American College of Dentists, received the F. William Towner Organized Dentistry Activity Award from the College in 2004, and also earned the William J. Greek Memorial Leadership Award from the Illinois State Dental Society in 2003.
A resident of Northbrook, IL, Dr. Furusho practices on the Northwest Side of Chicago at Dentistry for Kids at 4801 W. Peterson Ave.
