Dr. Peter A. Paesani, a 1956 alumnus of the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) College of Dentistry, was awarded the College’s F. William Towner Organized Dentistry Activity Award at the College’s 2006 Reunion Feb. 24.
The award is named for Dr. F. William Towner, a 1953 graduate of the College. It is presented for significant and meritorious activity in organized dentistry. Dr. Towner was an active member and officer in many dental organizations during a career that lasted four decades.
Practicing and residing in Rockford, IL, throughout his career, Dr. Paesani began specializing in endodontics in 1971 and completed postgraduate work in the specialty at Northwestern University in 1977.
Dr. Paesani has had an incredible level of involvement in organized dentistry, having served as the President of the Winnebago County Dental Society and of the Edgar Coolidge Endodontic Study Club, Chairman of the Illinois State Dental Society Leadership Conference, Trustee of the American Association of Endodontists Endowment Foundation, and member of more than a dozen dental and community organizations.
He was the first recipient of the Presidents Award from the American Association of Endodontists and received the Illinois State Dental Society’s Distinguished Member Award.
Dr. Paesani was an Associate Professor in the Department of Endodontics at Northwestern University Dental School from 1971 to 1985.
