The KidZaam Klubhouse in Prescott Valley, Ariz., opened its giant barn doors at the end of January to hundreds of visitors and an abundance of new patients. What began in April 2005 as a seemingly normal building under construction has transformed into a jaw-dropping structure that looks less like a dentist office and more like a fun house. The slanted roof, cock-eyed windows, bright green, orange and purple checkered walls and giant laughing gas tank are just a sampling of the unique visual elements created to banish a child’s fear of visiting the dentist.
Located at Highway 69 and Glassford Hill Road, the KidZaam Klubhouse is the only pediatric dental practice, caring for children, newborn to 13 years of age, in the Prescott Tri-City area. A 6,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art dental practice designed with kids in mind, everything about the Klubhouse screams fun – from the wacky, ornately decorated exterior, to the crazy characters represented throughout the facility. Inside the Klubhouse are highly qualified doctors and staff, top-of-the-line dental equipment, and plenty of activities to keep patients (and parents) happy.
The inside décor of the Klubhouse mimics that of the outside. A KidZaam signature character Doc, stands post above the main entrance, while mismatched movie seats, green ooze streaming from vents, and bubble gum scented air freshener help the little ones to feel at ease. Keeping patients and parents occupied while waiting, a game room is equipped with the latest kid-appropriate video games, and popular G-rated movies can be found playing in the TV room.
Extending beyond the lobby, the smallest details are not overlooked at the KidZaam Klubhouse. Able to accommodate plenty of patients, the Klubhouse contains four sedation rooms, two exam rooms and five hygiene chairs. All of the staff and doctors wear mismatched clothing, funky socks and brightly colored shoes. During exams, doctors and hygienists are donned in colored latex gloves, while kids are given cool neon sunglasses. Patients spin a prize wheel before leaving and get to pick-out their favorite balloon art.
The KidZaam Klubhouse is the flagship pediatric dental facility stemming from the already successful KidZaam concept. KidZaam’s Founder and President, Dr. Albert M. Higgins, is a board-certified pediatric dentist with nearly 15 years of experience working specifically with children. Realizing a need for quality pediatric care in a fun environment, Dr. Higgins founded KidZaam in 1993 with an office in Phoenix and then later with an office in Prescott. Taking the concept a step further, the KidZaam Klubhouse was born. Plans are in place to convert all existing KidZaam locations into KidZaam Klubhouses and to franchise the concept nationwide.
