Ivoclar Vivadent, Inc. announced that Robert A. Ganley, president and CEO, received the Transformational Leadership honor by the Dental Manufacturers of America, Inc. (DMA) and the Dental Dealers of America, Inc. (DDA). The award, presented during the Dental Industry Fall Educational Program in New Orleans on October 18th, recognizes Ganley’s contributions to his company, the dental industry and the dental profession. The DMA and DDA criteria for this award reference an article in Sloan Management Review entitled “The Leadership Challenge: A Call for the Transformational Leader”, which explains that transformational leaders—such as Ganley—create something new out of something old, “develop and communicate a new vision, and get others not only to see the vision but also to commit themselves to it.” As such, these organizations awarded Ganley with the Transformational Leader honor based in part on his leadership of the Esthetic Revolution, a vision that has earned him distinction as one of the industry’s most dynamic chief executives and also revolutionized the way dentists and laboratory technicians approach the art of restorative dentistry.
