BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—BioHorizons has introduced CERALOG PROGRESSIVE-LINE, a two-piece ceramic dental implant system that is entirely metal-free, to the U.S. market.

Most dental implants are made of titanium; BioHorizons said CERALOG is intended for patients who require an alternative. The system was originally developed by Camlog, a BioHorizons partner company, and features a tapered implant body with an aggressive thread design and dedicated surgical instrumentation.

The system pairs a ceramic implant with zirconia and PEEK restorative components and a metal-free screw. The company said its bolt-in-tube implant-abutment connection provides a stable, precise fit between the implant and restorative component. According to the company, the two-piece design offers restorative options beyond those of one-piece ceramic implants, and the tooth-colored ceramic material delivers the mechanical performance required for implant dentistry.

“CERALOG merges a modern implant body design with completely metal-free restorative components to address the growing U.S. market for alternative implant solutions,” said Steve Boggan, president and CEO of BioHorizons.

BioHorizons said the U.S. launch expands the availability of metal-free implant options for clinicians.
