For the 19th year, the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry, 801 S. Paulina St., Chicago, IL, will take on the appearance of a national dental research conference from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 10, 2006, at Clinic and Research Day, and will feature a keynote lecture from the speaker, Robert J. Genco, DDS, PhD, Vice Provost and Director of Science, Technology Transfer and Economic Outreach (STOR) at the State University of New York at Buffalo. The event will be followed by a reception.
"There will be more than 90 poster presentations by students and a mini-symposium showcasing a variety of clinical and research projects,” said Dr. Christine Wu, Associate Dean for Research. “There will also be awards given, dental product exhibits, and events planned just for fun, such as games and a wax carving competition.”
Events will wrap up with a reception, where there will be an award presentation for best papers in a variety of categories, including basic and clinical sciences.
"We anticipate an increase in research activity because many more students, including predocs and postgrads, will be participating this year,” Dr. Wu noted.
Continuing education attendance credit will be awarded for selected presentations, but may not be applicable to completion of relicensure requirements in Illinois or other state jurisdictions.
Commercial enterprises are welcome to participate as exhibitors, sponsors, or both. Exhibitors will be provided with display space. For information about event exhibits, call Dr. Darryn Weinstein at (312) 355-3583.
