Dr. Joe H. Mayes is Lubbock's first orthodontist using Imaging Sciences'
i-CAT(tm) advanced 3-D imaging machine to improve diagnosis and
treatment planning

Lubbock, Texas-January 23, 2006-Imaging Sciences International today
announced that Dr. Joe H. Mayes, DDS, MSD, PC, is the first orthodontist
in Lubbock to use Imaging Sciences' advanced i-CAT(tm) 3-D imaging
technology. Dr. Mayes is combining the 3-D technology of the i-CAT(tm)
with 3dMD's surface capture system. The i-CAT(tm) gives dentists and
specialists the most complete information on the anatomy of a patient's
mouth, face, and jaw areas, which leads to the most accurate treatment
and predictable outcomes for patients' orthodontic treatment.

Now, patients who visit Dr. Mayes' 29-year-old orthodontic practice will
benefit from the most advanced 3-D dental imaging technology. Dr. Mayes
is able to use data from the i-CAT(tm) X-Ray system and 3dMD's surface
imaging system to create the most complete information on the exterior
and interior of a patient's mouth, face, and jaw areas, which leads to
the most accurate treatment plans.

With just one quick i-CAT(tm) scan, Dr. Mayes is able to capture a
complete orthodontic workup of all bone and jaw structures including
cephalometrics, panoramic, SMV and TMJ images, supernumerary and
impacted teeth slices, and airway and spinal studies. 3dMD software
provides images of the outer facial tissue. The images presented
together help Dr. Mayes and his patients see changes to bone and jaw
structures inside the mouth, as well as changes to the patient's actual
outer appearance as a result of certain procedures.

"The combination of 3-D imaging technology has dramatically enhanced the
level of care I can provide my patients," Dr. Mayes says. "The
utilization of the i-CAT(tm) Cone Beam CT Scanner and 3dMD image
photography have significantly impacted my orthodontic practice leading
to better and more complete diagnosis, and greater understanding of
treatment plans by patients. The immediate, accurate, three-dimensional
digital reconstructions of patients' anatomy help me provide more
complete diagnoses, and faster than ever before. Treatment planning has
never been easier than with the i-CAT(tm)'s high-tech, in-office
scanning."

The comprehensive 3-D images produced by Imaging Sciences' i-CAT(tm) are
a valuable tool to patients considering necessary and elective
procedures. "It's especially helpful when I'm trying to show patients
the value of a procedure," adds Dr. Mayes. "The accurate 3-D images let
me share a visual diagnosis with my patients so they can better
understand their treatment options, while exposing them to a
significantly lower radiation dose compared to traditional CT scans. I'm
proud to be one of the only doctors in Texas offering this revolutionary
combination of 3-D technology to my patients."

The easy-to-use i-CAT(tm) has become the leader in Cone Beam 3-D Imaging
by producing more thorough three-dimensional views of all oral and
maxillofacial structures. Patients remain seated in an 'open environment
scan', which increases patient comfort and captures the natural
orientation of anatomy. The data is transferred to a computer, typically
within one minute, and displayed on an intuitive 3-D mapping tool that
allows doctors and technicians to easily format and select desired
'slices' for immediate viewing. The entire i-CAT(tm) workstation,
including machine, computer station, and access space, requires under 60
square feet of office space, and creates 3-D images at reduced cost and
with considerably less radiation than traditional Fan Beam Computed
Tomography systems.

"It's gratifying to know that Dr. Mayes is using the i-CAT(tm) as part
of his orthodontic 3-D patient assessment to enhance treatment planning
for his patients," says Ed Marandola, President and CEO of Imaging
Sciences. "The i-CAT(tm) gives him more accurate anatomical information
than he could possibly capture with X-ray films or traditional scans,
and without having to inconvenience his patients by sending them out to
a hospital for CT scans. Imaging Sciences remains true to its goal of
providing dental specialists the imaging technology necessary to treat
their patients with unprecedented speed, accuracy, and success."
