Evaluation of NiTi Reciprocating File Systems in Mesial Canals of Mandibular Molars

Posted: January 4, 2025
The study compared the shaping efficacy of R-Motion (RM) and WaveOne Gold (WG) nickel-titanium (NiTi) rotary systems in mesial canals of mandibular molars using micro-computed tomography (micro-CT). Both systems effectively straightened canal curvature with comparable results in untouched canal surfaces, changes in surface areas and volumes. RM showed better dentin thickness preservation and less canal transportation than WG. The reciprocating motion of these systems reduces stress on the files and enhances safety in curved canals. Overall, RM demonstrated a balance between effective shaping and structural preservation, making it recommended for conservative canal shaping.
