FIRST DIGITAL DENTAL MIRROR ENABLES DENTISTS TO BETTER DIAGNOSE AND TREAT
Posted: April 25, 2005

Miras Imaging Inc. is introducing the MirroScopeTM, the first operative instrument that enables dental practitioners to work from a monitor viewing magnified real-time images.

The MirroScope will be exhibited at the California Dental Association Show, in booth #2427, May 13-15, in Anaheim, California.

The new MirroScope, with its magnification and illumination capabilities, incorporates elements of a loupe and a microscope in a familiar and easy-to-use (digital) dental mirror. The system also captures video or still images, similar to an intra-oral camera, for download to most image archiving software tools via a video capture card.

While working from a monitor is new to many practices, the MirroScope is designed with familiar ergonomics and flexibility of the dental mirror. As a result, clinicians can choose to work directly from the mirror or indirectly viewing high-resolution images magnified up to 30-x.

“The MirroScope will enable clinicians to provide better patient care while improving their posture and reducing back and neck strain,” explains Miras President and Chief Technology Officer Dr. Zvi Rakocz. “Real-time imaging has been commonplace in general medicine for some time and now we’re introducing it to the dental field.”

According to Dr. Ron Kaminer, DDS of Smiles by Design in Hewlett New York, “Our clinicians have greatly improved their visibility and treatment capabilities working off a screen with magnified images. MirroScope is taking dentistry to a new level.”

The MirroScope U.S. launch follows initial adoption in the U.K, France, Australia and Israel. It received FDA approval in October, 2004.
