GC Corporation Receives Japan Medal
GC Corporation (headquartered in Tokyo, Japan), parent company of GC America, Inc. received the Japan Quality Medal and Certificate of Merit on November 9, 2004 at the 54th annual awards ceremony, held at the Japan Federation of Economic Organizations in Tokyo. The award and certificate was presented to Mr. Makoto Nakao, President and CEO, GC Corporaton by Mr. Hiroshi Okuda, Chairman of the Deming Prize Committee & Chairman of the Japan Federation of Economic Organizations. Mr. Nakao then spoke to the attendees about the company, it’s history and future vision for quality.
GC Corporation first implemented its formal quality control system in 1967. In 1981, the company incorporated the concept of General Quality Control(GQC). This concept of “ For social contribution, quality first and the group of GC associates,” is based on the company philosophy of “Semui” –pursued since the company’s establishment. Immediately following, the company established Total Quality Management(TQM) as the core of the quality management system.
In 2000 GC Corporation received the Deming Award demonstrating its excellence in Quality. To this day, the company continues to improve its quality systems. Under the leadership of Mr. Nakao, the company has continued to promote TQM activities and succeeded in attaining management goals and objectives. GC Corporation has steadily carried out development of management policies, based on the company’s long-term strategic plan, Vision 2010.
Management’s success is due to proactively promoting the excellent quality management system, development of new technology and new products, improvement of productivity and realization of quality assurance system at the respective work process levels through factory innovation program, innovation of production management system, centralization of information using IT, human resource development based on the list of required skills, quality management, and environment management programs and processes.
