Authored for more than 15 years by Research Director, Nelson Gendusa, DDS, Parkell's Adhesive Newsletter is an informal 8-page clinical update written for the practicing dentist. Described as largely non-promotional with an easy-to-read, humorous style, it includes technique hints, answers questions submitted by readers, and reviews new research with significant clinical implications. According to Parkell, the Adhesive Newsletter was the first US publication for general dentists to discuss the role of the hybrid layer in bonding and to warn how sensitivity-prone the 5th-generation bonding agents were (including Parkell's own 5th-generation material.) It reportedly doesn't hesitate to disagree with lecturers or researchers when, in Dr. Gendusa's opinion, the evidence doesn't support their positions.
Among the topics in recent issues -
• The absurdity of using bond-strength numbers when choosing a bonding agent
• How to preventing post-op sensitivity with composite restorations.
• Why dual-cure cements may not be the best choice for adhesive cementation.
According to Parkell, several years-worth of prior issues are now posted on its website (www.parkell.com) for downloading.
