What Your Dog Breed Says About You and Your Practice

Jack Russell terrier
Practical. Hard-working. You have strong opinions about everything—especially opinions, and who else should be allowed to have them. You’re scrappy and innovative to the point of annoyance. You’ve never once changed your mind. On at least one occasion, you’ve literally chased someone out of the practice.

Collie
You like to stay busy ... too busy. If you’re not running frantic and frazzled in three directions at once, you become restless and destructive. You got through dental school as if it had been an agility course for toddlers. You have a gentle demeanor but a straightforward attitude when it comes to getting the job done. If a patient were to fall down a well, you’d be the first doc on the scene. You couldn’t do much to help, but you’d make a big scene.

Golden retriever
Your practice makes millions, but nobody has ever seen you sweat. At conventions and seminars, staff members from other practices try to come home with you. Your casual confidence and steadfast reliability are dwarfed only by your classic good looks. At the same time, you’re known for being a galumphing goofball who sometimes forgets patients have been sitting in the operatory for an hour. But they’ll forgive you. Of course they will.

Mix

You’ve had to hold your own and stay in the fight even when the odds were against you. You weren’t top of your class or anyone’s favorite, but you took the jobs that were offered and didn’t complain. You smell a bit weird, but no one wants to tell you. You feel out of place in the study club yet when you have a comment, everyone listens. When something needs doing, you get it done. You won’t ever win a big blue ribbon, but when it comes time to get dirty, you’re the first in the mud.
