The Society of St. Vincent de Paul
Welcomes New Clinical Dental Director
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul has announced that Dr. Scott Myers has joined the Arizona-based nonprofit as clinical dental director at its Delta Dental of Arizona Oral Health Center at the Virginia G. Piper Medical & Dental Clinic. Myers stepped into the role in May 2019 as Dr. Ken Snyder, former SVdP dental director, transitioned to a community outreach role for SVdP.
Myers comes to SVdP after 11 years of teaching at the Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health, where he was director of the Comprehensive Care Unit and one of the co-directors for the Office of Clinical Education. Before that, he owned and operated a practice in central Phoenix for five years.
Myers completed postgraduate residencies in advanced dentistry and oral science at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City and Morristown Memorial Hospital in New Jersey after graduating from the Kornberg School of Dentistry at Temple University in Philadelphia. He also holds bachelor’s degrees in biology and chemistry from Pittsburgh University.
Myers’ transition into the new role comes at an opportune time; SVdP reopened its renovated and expanded dental clinic in July. The expansion transformed the eight-chair clinic to 16, which will allow the society to provide about 4,000 additional patient visits per year on top of the 6,000 it already performs.
