Manual or Electric?

Lisa Heinrich-null is a general dentist from Victoria, Texas and has been a Townie for two years. When Lisa is not busy doing what dentists do best, she extends her patience and skills to painting. We sat down with Lisa and got a glimpse of her life outside of her practice, and a look into what this talented Townie had to say on all sorts of topics.
After a horrible disaster at sea you wash ashore on a deserted island. You managed to grab one clinical instrument before your escape. What is it and how will it help you survive on the island? I would take a scalpel because I always appreciate a good knife in the wilderness Imagine having to cut up food or protect yourself.

Tell us about the worst job you ever had. I always considered doing my best at any job and not one was the worst because I did my best.

Tell us about your hobby. Painting is relaxing and rewarding. To create a work of beauty that moves a person’s heart to a better place is gloriously rewarding. The act of staring at a white canvas and painting your inner throughts onto canvas in an act of vulnerability and shares with te viewer another look at our world full of hope.

Have you been to a Townie Meeting? If so, describe your experience in three words. Exciting, informative, great networking.

Describe your most awkward experience in dental school. Class pictures, and if you saw mine, classmates wrote ptosis above my right eye.

What is your guilty pleasure? Chocolate. A few bites.

What would we find in your refrigerator right now? Vegetables, milk, orange juice, meats!

Describe what you do as though you were explaining your job to a four-year-old. I get to see people and help them get the hurt from the sugar bugs out of their teeth, and if they have an ugly smile, we create a beautiful smile.

What food or drink do you reach for when you feel like being bad to your teeth? I never feel like being bad to my teeth because I had three years of orthodontics and two more of retreat. I do however know the candy, chips and sports drinks are bad. So I clean after thirty minutes or chew xylitol gum.

What’s your favorite spot on Earth? Right where I’m at.

What are you waiting to come back into style? Besides good rock and roll, the philosophy that it is good to work.

What’s the most creative way you’ve used a piece of dental equipment that wasn’t for its intended purpose? Surgical suture when my shoe broke and I could not leave to exchange shoes at home. I sutured the broken leather and made do. It saved the day!

What is the one thing you would literally trade an arm and a leg for? The safety of my loved ones.

Manual or electric toothbrush? Electric toothbrush— proof is in the perio pocket readings.
