I have business cards similar to my own printed for all employees once they have worked in the office for 90 days. The cards have my name on them with the employee and the employee’s title.
I’ve had nothing but great responses from both the staff, and the people they hand them to. Every employee has a life outside the office, and...they are approached all of the time.
Having a card ready looks professional, makes the employee feel good, and is a cheap way to gain referrals. I suspect that this simple idea has cost me $50-75 over the past year and has gained me nearly 15-20 families this last year, and who knows how much production.

I think the business cards for staff is a great idea too. It's a very inexpensive way to advertise. It also makes the staff feel more part of the team. They will hand these cards out to all kinds of people because it has their name and number on it. Oh, it also has your number on it too!
Related note: I've been telling docs for years to put their cards into all outgoing mail. I mean all of it, even the utility bills. You wouldn't believe how many doctors have told me they've been able to get loads of patients this way. And it's practically free.

Our office, likewise, has had our business cards printed with each staff members name and title. While I suspect some do not use them, I know for fact many do and result in new patients or positive images of the office when they are handed out. Only costs a few bucks to have the imprinting on say 250 cards per staff member. IMHO, well worth the investment, and staff is appreciative of this team building gesture.

I have business cards. I hang mine on bulletin boards in stores and drop them in those jars in restaurants. You never know who might see them. I also give one to each patient when we have our financial consultation, so they know my name and where to reach me if they have questions after they leave. We give them to other general dental offices too, in case they run out of our referral slips. They usually will display them for us if we ask nicely.

The assistants use them when finishing a patient, "Mrs. Smith here is my card, if you have any questions or concerns please call, you were a great patient today!" Or if a patient states," Thank you so much. I love my new smile, you all have been so great to me." We will respond by saying, " It has been our pleasure Mrs. Smith, there is something you can do for me if you have any friends or family members who value their dental care, we would appreciate you referring them to our practice. Here are some of my cards. Have them call me, and I will take great care of them. Your referrals are a great ‘thank you’ gift to us."
I always include my card in new-patient welcome packs, I give a card to every patient I do fianancial arrangements for, treatment plans, etc. There are so many times you can use them.
