Synopsis:
A High Velocity dentist is one who strives to be faster and more efficient, but also to do so in a way that adds no stress or chaos to the workday without reducing quality. Every aspect of Workflow Choreography is discussed from attracting new patients, answering the phone, treatment presentation, how to efficiently do a root canal, build up, and crown, and having the patient leave happy. This gives the patient the optimal experience while yielding amazing benefits by creating a dental practice that is able to almost effortlessly increase their daily production by performing procedures more efficiently without decreasing quality or increasing stress.

This course will review all the possible ways that current practice systems can be improved or modified to give the patient a first class experience and yield a decreased workload for the entire dental team. Discussed are the challenges (both practice management and clinical) that are most commonly seen as dentists try to improve practice workflow choreography and the best ways to form a plan to take action and improve practice life for all parties; the staff, the patients, and the doctor.

Description of Speaker:
Dr. Chris Griffin is a solo, general practitioner from Ripley, Mississippi. In 2008 Dr. Griffin founded Effective Dentistry, LLC and The Capacity Academy to teach his concepts of clinical efficiency and practice management. Publisher of a monthly newsletter and 4 books, in 2011 Dr. Griffin launched a monthly ezine, The Winning Dentist, that has evolved into a monthly digital magazine by the same name that features dentists who have found success both inside and outside their practice. Dr. Griffin practices what he preaches by working only 3 days a week, producing 2.5 times the ADA national average, and devoting the bulk of each week to his family and the dentists who want to learn how to increase production while decreasing stress.

Educational Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to achieve the following:
  • Define the 4 primary components of general dental practice.
  • Learn the concepts of Workflow Choreography as it relates to dental practice.
  • Identify the steps involved in making a non-patient into an actual patient in the practice.
  • Learn the most efficient ways to present cases with the highest possibility of success.
  • Learn how to quickly transition from case acceptance to treatment.
  • See how color-coding helps in the speed of setting up dental operatories.
  • Find out how to guarantee that dental assistants will have your room setups in perfect order for you to begin procedures with no costly delays.
  • Discover best practices for increasing operatory speed without increasing stress or sacrificing quality.
  • At the end of this course participants will be able to better understand their own workflow choreography, identify potential opportunities and challenges to improving their choreography, and begin designing systems to improve their own workflow.

Dr. Griffin declares that neither he nor any member of his family have a financial arrangement or affiliation with any corporate organization offering financial support or grant monies for this continuing dental education program nor have a financial interest in any commercial products or services discussed in this article. It was fairly broad and helpful hints along the way for a typical work day for a dentist. Root canal information was probably unnecessary to the video.
