Cosmetic surgery procedures are growing in popularity in the USA and also globally. There has been a steady rise in the numbers annually over the last five years.  In the USA alone, in 2018, over 1.8 Million plastic surgery operations were performed, which is about a quarter million more in comparison to 2017.

The statistics were released by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).

Invasive Procedures (Plastic Surgery)

There was a total of 1.8 million invasive plastic surgery operations performed in 2018. The top five are breast augmentation, followed by liposuction, then nose reshaping follows next, after that it is eyelid surgery and then tummy tuck was in position five. The statistics are summarized below.

There were 313,735 breast augmentation operations performed, 258,558 liposuction procedures done, 213,780 nose reshaping procedures performed, 206,529 eyelid surgery procedures done, and 130,081 tummy tuck procedures.

Below we discuss the popular invasive procedures:-

1. Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation is the most common type of surgery in the world. This can tell you why women globally, single or married, are turning to breast surgery in sustaining or rejuvenating their youthful bodies.

The procedure helps women regain their pre-pregnancy breasts. Breast augmentation is also a common procedure when ‘doing’ a ‘mommy makeover’.

2. Liposuction

Liposuction procedures are used to remove fat from any part of the body. It is done by both men and women. However, it is common for women after the effects of pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Most often, pregnancy leads to excess weight gain and a woman having excess fat in the body.

Although some women manage to lose weight through dieting and exercising, some of the fat can only be removed through a medical procedure. You can opt for a non-invasive procedure called CoolSculpting to achieve the same effect of liposuction.

3. Gynecomastia

‘Manboobs’, or even ‘Moobs’ (scientfically called gynecomastia) sometimes cause

4. Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is a nose reconstruction procedure to improve the visual appearance of the nose and face. It involves modifying the bones and nasal cartilages. It is a non-complicated procedure that is done as an outpatient procedure.

However, the patient will need to be monitored after surgery and assisted on at least the first day.

The pre-surgery procedure involves discussing with the patient their anticipated results first. The doctor may mention possible surgical limitations to achieving the patient’s goals.

5. Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

Eyelid surgery is also referred to as an eye lift. As the name suggests, it is a surgery performed on the eyelid. The main cause of eyelid surgeries is droopy eyelids. The procedure usually removes excess skin which results in a tight skin. Droopy eyelids also obstruct views and patients may benefit with having their vision improved.

The procedure may also include removing muscles and fat. The doctor can evaluate whether the operation necessitates doing both upper and lower eyelids or only one part.

Non-Invasive Procedures

Also,non-invasive surgery is very popular globally and in the USA with patients using them to enhance their face or body appearances. Some individuals prefer non-invasive or minimally invasive operations because the procedures are convenient.

There was a total of about 15.9 million cosmetic minimally-invasive procedures performed in 2018. The top procedures were:

7.44 million Botulinum Toxin Type A Procedures

2.68 million Soft Tissue Fillersprocedures

1.38 million Chemical Peel procedures

709,413 Microdermabrasion procedures.

For any of the procedures discussed above or other invasive or non-invasive procedures not mentioned like Ultherapy, Power Ultrashape, Infini, Venus or CoolSculpting in Manhattan, schedule an appointment with a qualified surgeon.
