The news of the week includes Nobel Biocare, Oventus, Nissha, A-dec, Planmeca and the Gold Council in London.

1. NOBEL BIOCARE, Sweden-based subsidiary of Danaher Corporation, plans to hold its annual clinical symposium on June 23-26, 2016 in New York City. Over 150 lecturers will participate in the program with hands on sessions including digital treatment planning, zygomatic implants and Nobel’s All-on-4 treatment program.

2. OVENTUS in Australia launched its new oral appliance for the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea in the United States. The Oventus O2 device eliminated or reduced snoring in 100% of patients who had tried device.

3. NISSHA USA is introducing the OralChroma gas chromatograph that will detect the presence of hydrogen sulfide, methyl mercaptan & dimethyl sulfide in a patient’s breath. These 3 chemicals are indicative of malodor from different sources. The introductory price is $6,900 compared to the regular price of $7,500.

5. A-DEC INC. in Newberg, Oregon designed and will begin marketing the A-dec Inspire-brand line of dental furniture and cabinetry for dental operatories. The company noted that the Inspire products are “an innovation fusion of technology and materials.”

6. PLANMECA in Finland plans a June 2016 launch of its new 3-D printer called the Planmeca Creo. The system will use ultraviolet curable resins to create dental splints, surgical guides & models.

7. How often are you using gold for dental restorations? If you answered a Ton less, then you are correct. According to an estimate from the Gold Council in London, only 18.9 tons of gold were used worldwide in 2015. This 5% decline represents a decline of one ton of gold.
