1. LED DENTAL INC. in Atlanta, Georgia has become a strategic partner in the Oral Cancer Foundation’s Be Part of the Change program that promotes routine comprehensive oral screenings. LED will provide a free VELscope Vx system to general and specialty dental practices that agree to perform at least three oral screenings per day for a three-year period using the firm’s device. Participants will only be responsible for purchasing asepsis barriers that prevent cross contamination.
2. MYTIME in San Francisco, California raised $9.3 million through a consortium of venture capital firms. This brings this start-up company’s total funding to around $12 million. The firm’s App allows smart phone users to book dental and other types of appointments. www.mytime.com

5. A new study released by Persistence Market Research estimates that the worldwide dental implant market was valued at $4.5 billion in 2014 and will grow to $7.9 billion in 2020.
