1. This new toothpaste with origins in Silicon Valley, 12 years in the making, that has been shown to reduce plaque, gingivitis and gum bleeding by more than 200% according to the results of a recently released double blind study. The secret ingredient is activated edathamil, which can break up the plaque biofilm on teeth. At $20 a tube, it is a bit pricey but the results are promising.
2. Dental Assistants Recognition Week is coming soon - March 1st to 7th . Please take a moment to celebrate the dental assistants in your practice during this designated time. This year's theme, "Dental Assisting: Embracing the Changes of the Profession," acknowledges the growing importance of dentistry's role in health care and the responsibilities of dental assistants.

4. AIR TECHNIQUES INC. in Melville, New York introduced the Cam-X Luna HD high definition intraoral camera. The firm will now market all of its intraoral cameras under the Cam-X brand. 5. BASEVAC, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada-based division of R. E. Morrison Equipment, will begin to market a new portable vacuum system called PortaVac. The device is suitable for mobile dental clinic applications. www.basevac.com
