1. This new toothpaste with origins in Silicon Valley, 12 years in the making, that has been shown to reduce plaque, gingivitis and gum bleeding by more than 200% according to the results of a recently released double blind study. The secret ingredient is activated edathamil, which can break up the plaque biofilm on teeth. At $20 a tube, it is a bit pricey but the results are promising.

2. Dental Assistants Recognition Week is coming soon - March 1st to 7th . Please take a moment to celebrate the dental assistants in your practice during this designated time. 4. AIR TECHNIQUES INC. in Melville, New York introduced the Cam-X Luna HD high definition intraoral camera. The firm will now market all of its intraoral cameras under the Cam-X brand. 5. BASEVAC, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada-based division of R. E. Morrison Equipment, will begin to market a new portable vacuum system called PortaVac. The device is suitable for mobile dental clinic applications. www.basevac.com

6. VATECH GLOBAL in Korea launched the EzSensor Soft bendable intraoral x-ray sensor. www.vatechglobal.com
