Vivaglass® CEM

Glass Ionomer Cement from Ivoclar Vivadent, Inc.
Posted: March 27, 2002

Vivaglass® CEM is a Type I glass ionomer cement used in conventional cementation techniques and is recommended for use with IPS ErisTM , a new addition to the Empress® family.

Vivaglass CEM comes in a pre-dosed capsule activated by mixing the capsule in an amalgamator for 10 seconds at 4,500 rpm. This delivery form eliminates the need for measuring and mixing required by many powder/liquid conventional cements, and is easily placed with the Vivaglass CEM applicator. Vivaglass CEM features low film thickness, high radiopacity and continuous fluoride release. It is recommended for:

  • Cementation of all-ceramic crowns and bridges made of high-strength ceramics
(e.g. IPS Eris, zirconium oxide ceramics)
  • Cementation of metal and metal reinforced ceramic restorations
  • Metal posts and indirect metal post and core build-up complexes
  • Orthodontic bands
  • Ready-made steel crowns

Vivaglass CEM is not indicated for IPS Empress staining and layering restorations.
