CHARLOTTE, N.C.—Fern Ingber, president emeritus of America’s ToothFairy: National Children’s Oral Health Foundation, will be recognized for her dedication and accomplishments in the advancement of children’s oral health at the America’s ToothFairy Celebration of Smiles on February 23.

Ingber, who served as founding president and CEO of America’s ToothFairy since its inception in 2006, announced her retirement on November 7, 2016.  During her tenure, she attracted the support and personal participation of numerous corporate, academic and clinical leaders. Ingber’s fundraising strategies, including a cause marketing program linking sales of leading dental products to America’s ToothFairy and a virtual ToothFairy Ball were developed to provide ongoing contributions for the organization.

The partnerships she established with major national organizations reaching underserved populations along with the creation of an Affiliate Network of nonprofit clinical programs have enabled America’s ToothFairy to reach approximately 2 million children and families annually.

“The America’s ToothFairy Board of Directors is grateful to Fern Ingber for her unwavering commitment to the cause of children’s oral health and her service to this organization for the past eleven years,” said James Ingebrand, president and general manager of 3M Oral Care and chairman of the board of America’s ToothFairy. “We applaud her many contributions and look forward to recognizing her at the annual Celebration of Smiles event in Chicago.”

“During her tenure at America’s ToothFairy, Fern was instrumental in bringing national attention to the children’s oral health crisis and establishing successful community-based programs and resources to address the challenge. The collaborative partnerships and programming developed under her leadership have enabled America’s ToothFairy to be a valuable resource provider for non-profit clinics and community organizations reaching underserved children," said Jill Malmgren, Ingber’s successor and current executive director of America’s ToothFairy.

Gordon Christensen, DDS, MSD, PhD, founder and director of Practical Clinical Courses, will also be honored at the February 23 event. Dr. Christensen has been a committed advocate and spokesperson for America’s ToothFairy and serves as a member of the America’s ToothFairy Board of Directors.
