Coltène/Whaledent Inc. introduces the Miris universal hybrid composite system. Miris differs from all other composites in its use of a new, simplified shading system, with only seven dentin and six enamel shades. An innovative shade guide was specially designed for Miris that allows the clinician to see the final shading before starting the restoration by layering the selected dentin shade tab under the selected enamel shade tab.
The Miris shading system is based on the painstaking color measurement of over a thousand teeth by Dr. Didier Dietschi, of Geneva, Switzerland. The Miris dentin and enamel materials mimic the shades, opacity and fluorescence of natural teeth. To make it even easier to select the correct shade, the shades are divided into Young, Adult and Elder, reflecting the physiological maturity and functional changes that affect dentin and enamel shades.
The handling properties of Miris were designed by a dentist, for dentists. Miris has a smooth consistency, is non-sticky and non-slumping and has a high resistance to ambient light for additional working time. As a universal hybrid composite system, Miris is suitable for direct anterior and posterior restorations and inlays, onlays and veneers. Miris provides a beautiful, glossy finish quickly and easily. Its 0.6 micron average filler particles provide both strength and polishability.
Miris is available in both syringes and pre-loaded tips, and is packaged in kits and refills. Many dentists may want to start using Miris with the low-priced Tip Intro Kit, which includes four of the seven dentin shades, three of the six enamel shades, a full shade guide and free One Coat Bond adhesive and etchant syringes.
