BruxZir Full-Strength Solid Zirconia is a monolithic zirconia material for crowns, bridges, screw-retained implant crowns, inlays, onlays and full-arch implant prostheses with no porcelain overlay.

Launched as being "more brawn than beauty," the material was originally intended to provide a durable, more aesthetic alternative to posterior metal occlusal PFMs or cast gold restorations for demanding situations like bruxers, implant restorations and areas with limited occlusal space. Today, thanks to improvements made to the zirconia formulation, BruxZir Full-Strength restorations exhibit improved translucency and color similar to natural dentition, making them a restorative option anywhere in the arch.

The product's zirconia powder undergoes colloidal processing, giving finished restorations improved light transmission and a lower, more natural shade value. Colloidal processing involves controlling the relationship between the individual zirconia particles by suspending them within a liquid. This enhanced control allows material scientists to impart specific qualities into the powder formulation. For example, by reducing the interparticle space in the powder, a higher density is achieved in the milling blank, leading to increased uniformity of aesthetics and strength throughout the final restoration.

In addition to the benefits imparted by the colloidal process, the restorations also exhibit a mechanism called "transformation toughening." Effectively, the crystalline composition of the zirconia is such that the material stops the propagation of cracks and counteracts their force on a microscopic level. As the stress of a crack moves through the zirconia material, it triggers an expansion of crystals immediately ahead of that stress and results in the crack being stopped and sealed.

All BruxZir Full-Strength restorations are designed and milled using CAD/CAM technology and then sintered at 1,580 degrees Celsius to achieve optimum strength. The restorations are then glazed to a smooth surface and are backed by a seven-year free replacement warranty.
