Six Women in Dentistry Earn Lucy Hobbs Project Awards
Benco Dental will host the fifth annual Lucy Hobbs Project celebration on April 27 and 28 in Philadelphia. During the gathering, the project will honor six award recipients for setting new benchmarks in the dental profession. The event will also include CE credits and a keynote speaker, Robyn Benincasa.

The 2017 award winners are: Patricia L. Blanton, DDS, MS, PhD, recipient of the Industry Icon award; Winifred J. Booker, DDS, recipient of the Humanitarian award; Margaret Fickess, RDA, CDA, MEd, recipient of the Innovator award; Emily Ishkanian, DMD, recipient of the Mentor award; Irene Marron-Tarrazzi, DMD, MS, recipient of the Woman to Watch award and Andrea Joy Smith, DDS, recipient of the Clinical Expertise award.

With a network of more than 9,000 members, The Lucy Hobbs Project empowers women in dentistry to drive change and deliver success through networking, innovation and giving back. Named for the first American woman to earn a degree in dentistry, this project aims to bring women together from all facets of the dental industry—dentists, dental assistants, hygienists, receptionists, sales representatives and others. Dentaltown Lands in the U.K. with New E-Mag and Forum
Dentaltown has extended its reach with a new, U.K.-focused e-magazine, DentaltownUK.

U.S.-based Dentaltown made its name as the world's largest and most heavily used dental forum. Through its affiliation with Dentaltown, DefactoDentists is pleased to be launching DentaltownUK. 

With a prelaunch subscription base of more than 20,000 dentists, DentaltownUK is set to reach more dental professionals than other U.K. magazines. The free subscription allows U.K. dental professionals to access Dentaltown's online forums as well as the monthly e-magazine, which will allow them to stay up to date with industry news, as well as read clinical, technical and lifestyle articles written by their peers.

3M Introduces New Product to Simplify Aesthetics for Dentists and Labs
3M has introduced a new product, Lava Esthetic Fluorescent Full-Contour Zirconia Disc. The product features a unique, built-in color technology delivering what the company says is an excellent shade match.

Lava Esthetic zirconia delivers optimized translucency for aesthetic full-contour crowns and three-unit bridges* at a strength of 800 MPa**—higher than that of glass ceramics and other cubic zirconia materials. In addition, a 2016 study has shown that restorations made of Lava Esthetic zirconia are wear-friendly against opposing enamel. 

The pre-shaded discs have an integral color gradient to deliver natural-looking shading from enamel to dentin and a true color match to the VITA Classic shades Bleach, A1, A2, A3, A3.5, B1, C1 and D2. The material is available in 98mm discs with step format in 14mm, 18mm and 22mm heights.
