Lava Esthetic
3M has introduced a new product, Lava Esthetic Fluorescent Full-Contour Zirconia. The product features built-in color technology delivering what the company says is an excellent shade match.
Lava Esthetic zirconia delivers optimized translucency for aesthetic full-contour crowns and three-unit bridges* at a strength of 800 MPa**—higher than that of glass ceramics and other cubic zirconia materials. In addition, a 2016 study has shown that restorations made of Lava Esthetic zirconia are wear-friendly against opposing enamel.
The preshaded discs have an integral color gradient to deliver natural-looking shading from enamel to dentin and a true color match to the VITA Classic shades Bleach, A1, A2, A3, A3.5, B1, C1 and D2. The material is available in 98mm disc with step format in 14mm, 18mm and 22mm heights.

Planmeca CAD/CAM recently released the enhanced PlanmecaFIT Open CAD/CAM System. One such enhancement includes the addition of PlanMill 40 S equipped with Smart Technology Software. The mill increases productivity through faster milling speeds and six-axis dual spindles, which enable offices to quickly produce natural-looking restorations within minutes.
Enhancements to the software behind the PlanScan Solo have created an innovative scanner that includes color optimization for enhanced color mapping. The PlanScan Solo produces fast digital impressions with vibrant, realistic color active filtering to remove extraneous tissues from images and buccal bite alignment correction for automatic overbite correction after initial alignment. Improvements to the PlanScan Solo reduce scanning times for numerous treatments such as single crowns, bridges, inlays, onlays and full-arch scanning.
