Synopsis:
Have you experienced the frustrations of anesthetic latency and the residual effect that it has on your practice schedule? Do late patient arrivals cause disruptions to the practice flow? Now you can overcome these challenges with a revolutionary chair side technology that allows you to buffer your anesthetics!

This presentation will begin with Dr. Falkel reviewing the science of local anesthesia including: the time course of analgesia, the factors that contribute to inconsistent anesthetic performance and how the body must overcome the acidity of local anesthetic injections before the anesthetic can take effect. Dr. Hyman will then discuss the benefits that buffered anesthetic provides for the practice’s activities and workflow, and will explain how to better-set expectations around success. Dr. Hyman will also discuss meaningful steps the dentist and staff can take when buffering is incorporated into the anesthesia routine, to enhance practice productivity and assist in better control of the schedule.

Description of Speaker:
Mic Falkel, DDS
Dr. Falkel is a class of 1987 graduate of University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco, California. After graduation he attended his General Practice Residency at the Veterans Administration Hospital at West Los Angeles and has been in general practice in Monterey, California since 1989. Having experienced frustration with the performance of local anesthetic in his practice, particularly around the frequency of failed anesthetic, delayed onset, injection pain and post-operative discomfort, he began research into the pharmacokinetics of dental anesthetic. Based on this research, Dr. Falkel has developed an alternative new paradigm in anesthetic delivery science for dentistry. Dr. Falkel is the co-founder of Onpharma Inc., an anesthetic technology and products company.

Mark Hyman, DDS, MAGD
Mark Hyman, DDS, a native of Greensboro, received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his dental degree from the UNC School of Dentistry. Following a four month internship in Israel, he completed the two-year oral medicine/General Practice Residency at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill. Dr. Hyman is on the surgical staff of Moses Cone Health System. He was elected President of the Guilford County Dental Society in 1991. He teaches at the Pankey Institute in Key Biscayne, Florida, is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the UNC School of Dentistry, and has lectured at many national and international dental meetings. He was voted one of the top 100 leaders in Dental Continuing Education by Dentistry Today magazine. He was honored by the North Carolina Dental Society as Young Dentist of the Year in 1995. He has received the Mastership Award of the Academy of General Dentistry. He and his wife, Anita, have three children.

A crash course in pharmocoloy of local anaesthetics at the very least, this course is great for learning the latest scientific advancement in local analgesia. The Q&A's offer practical tips as well. Highly recommended!

It addressed most of my concerns. Product not only will increase the effieciency of practice, but should give the patient better results. That should be the best reason of all to try this, to improve the patient experience. If the stress level goes done for me and my office staff then that is even better.
well presented
