Synopsis:


Non-carious cervical lesions represent some of the greatest challenges to the restorative dentist. Which lesions need to be restored? What is the best way to restore them?

In this evidence-based course, Dr. John Maggio provides specific indications for restoring these lesions. Materials are compared and contrasted. Soft tissue management is addressed. Techniques are introduced to simplify the restorative process and increase chances of success. Many cases are presented, to directly apply this information to the daily practice of dentistry.


Educational Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:
  • apply specific indications for restoring or not restoring these lesions
  • appreciate the challenges these lesions present
  • see the benefits and drawbacks of composite resins, flowable composites and resin-modified glass ionomers
  • decide which bonding agent/technique is best suited for a given lesion

  • utilize new techniques for matricing and finishing
  • manage soft tissue in a way that increases the chances of success
Description of Speaker:
Dr. John Maggio is assistant professor at the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, where he teaches in the undergraduate dental clinic. He is course director of the third year Cariology and Direct Restorations lecture courses. He has developed protocols for caries management and operative dentistry in the school’s dental clinics. He is also course director of the Ethics & Law in Practice Management lecture course. Dr. Maggio reviews articles for submission to the Journal of the American Dental Association. He teaches fast-paced, evidence-based continuing education courses in restorative dentistry and caries management to dentists and their teams. Dr. Maggio is a 1989 graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. He has a private general practice in Tonawanda, New York. He lives with his wife and daughter in Amherst, New York.

The presentation was very informative with research backing up most of the claims. The audio however was very faint and hard to hear. Also the audio didn't sync with the presenters actual speech which makes it even harder to hear and understand.
